auses of dryness in the nose and mouth:
The first cause is poor mask seal
You need to properly adjust the mask using its headgear – for example, by tightening it. It is also possible that your mask is too worn out. The cushion typically has a lifespan of 3 to 6 months, or the mask’s headgear may be too used. The cushion, mainly made of silicone or memory foam, softens over time and loses its firmness. Mask leaks increase the airflow delivered by your device. The humidifier is then unable to deliver enough water molecules to the mask. This leads to higher water consumption and causes the water chamber to empty in less than one night.
Check your hose
If your mask is well-sealed, make sure your hose is not the source of the leak. Check the hose for any perforations and ensure a proper connection. Note that the water chamber has a sealing gasket, which could also cause air leakage.
Humidity level of device
If everything is sealed properly, you can then increase the humidity level of your device and the temperature of the heated hose. The higher the temperature of the hose, the more water molecules the air can carry to the mask.
Medication
Certain medications can also cause dryness in the nose and mouth. Talk to your pharmacist about it.
Nasal congestion or sinusitis
The causes mentioned above can also lead to nasal congestion or sinusitis, which can present as pressure or frontal pain. You can resolve these issues by ensuring a good mask seal and proper humidification.
Please note that your device is designed to deliver more than 85% relative humidity to your mask.
What to do if there is water condensation in the mask or hose?
There are two possible reasons for this:
The room temperature is too cold (below 20°C / 68°F).
The humidity level of the device is too high.
It is a balance between a cool room and the settings of your device’s humidifier. If there is water condensation in your hose, it means the hose is not heating enough.
